Heroes: do they exist?

Started learning about video editing, only the little basic ones, but that's all we would probably need. As most of the difficult stuffs are made easy thanks to the software itself (talk about taking things for granted eh?).

Finally got my very own Yamaha F-310 acoustic guitar. It's great! Though of course to have a noob owner who cant play it to save himselves must be embarrasing.

Went to Sg. Wang today, asking about lessons. Not that bad, only thing that really bugs me is that I have no other choice but to do it on Saturdays, and a session lasts a mere half an hour long. Bah, I'm sure it'll be worth it. =)

Have to decide what topic to choose from for my TV commercial assignment, and I have less than 2 weeks for shooting and editing. I can either choose to make a commercial about my college's 40th anniversary, or any product of my team's choice. There's just one catch, Broadcasting students are supposed to do the 40th anniversary one, so our work might be compared to theirs. I don't mind a challenge, and if it helps to decide quickly and be done with it, its fine with me. Still, have to wait for them and discuss.

Ergh, I hate the fact that I'm so good at talking, and yet I can never win. All it takes is a simple bombardment of meaningless words and I'm left speechless.

Future at hand

Well, today I did a radio commercial with my friends for our college assignment. Surely enough, I'm selected to be the "voice over talent"

I was reluctant, of course, but since one of my goal is to actually be an announcer, I figured it'll be a good chance for me to actually get some exposure. So, after some test takes, I got used to it, and got pretty good at it too.

It wasn't until after a few takes until our lecturer decided to add a female into the equation to make things livelier. So yeah, a total newbie whose antennae of her car is somehow destroyed, and don't listen to radio. Not to mention she's not even interested. Too bad for her, as the only other girl is chinese educated, and I'd really not wanna work with one.

It went pretty good, after a few practices, I tried to help her improve, and she did it pretty quickly. So we did a few takes, and the final one is a whole lot better. Once we got out of the VO room, to my surprise my lecturer said I could actually be an announcer, and said that I have a pretty good voice.

So I was pretty happy with the outcome,, and this experience will prove very useful for my future job application. After submitting the completed radio commercial, we will start making a video one. Will get busy, since there's so much to do in this short semester.

The thing about driving in a heavy storm.

But before this, here's a funny scene. I was driving slowly as there's this big puddle on the road, being the considerate driver I go slow to avoid splashing water on the cars beside me. That is when a car whizzed right past me, and I "evaded" the splash, even closed my eyes, of which I should not be doing. Took me a second to realize that I'm driving in my car, so I obviously wont get wet, and obviously should not be closing my eyes.

On to the real rant.

Everyone knows that when driving in a heavy storm, the windshield and the side mirrors gets all wet and fogged up, which will deter the driver's (and other drivers) vision. What do you do to increase visibility of your vehicle and reduce the chance of an accident?

Simple, you turn on your headlights.

It wasn't until I'm halfway home until a storm started. Just before the Ampang-KL elevated highway, so I naturally turned my headlights on.

When I was just about to switch lanes, I put up my signal, just about to turn the wheel, and a retarded car whizzed right past. You guessed it, no headlights.

Is it really that hard to turn the headlights on? I mean, all you do is extend your fingers and after two clicks, voila, your lights are on.

Who gives a rat's piss about your superman vision. If you don't turn the lights on, you risk injuring yourself and other motorists, and whoever at fault is too damn obvious. Hell I can even crash my car onto yours and the fault is still yours. All I have to do is say "How am I supposed to see your car, when its so hard for you to turn the lights on?"

Seriously, I've had enough near misses while I was driving. I don't need another.

Here's a hoedown, Whose Line? style:

I was driving in a storm, I turned on the lights.
Because if I don't do so, cops gives me a fright.
If you're retarded or just in a hangover,
The thing that makes you stop, will not be a pull over.

The next step : To follow footsteps.

Recently, I've been thinking to myself ; if music is my inspiration in life, why would I not know how to actually play an instrument?

I know, I sing a lot, but that doesn't mean that I really appreciate it. If you ask me, I think I'm just taking it for granted. Hell I don't even remember what the hell are musical notes anymore.

After watching live performances by ____, I got a mixture of emotions: impressed, respect and inspiration. That is when I decided; "I want to learn how to play a guitar!"

Yes, she is my primary inspiration into learning. I've also thought of maybe actually composing my own songs, which may or may not work, I don't plan on doing it big, of course. Hey, it's better than sitting at home, and telling my significant other that all I ever do is play games.

So yeah, that is what I have planned. Hopefully I will be able to start learning during my semester break, in order to actually use my time efficiently. I don't know what my family members would think, because the cost of owning an accoustic guitar, and the lessons is of course, not cheap. But this is what I want, and it obviously have more benefits than sitting in front of the computer all day. I'm sure if I can show them my passion and patience, I will succeed.

So, if anyone of you have connections to whomever selling musical instruments, and whomever offering classes, do contact me. Your help will be very much appreciated. ;]

Another competition come and gone

Was too tired after gaming the whole day at Blitzone cyber cafe Damansara, I slept at 9.30pm as soon as I finish eating my dinner.

Anyway, it was the best gaming tournament I've ever had. Everyone is so so competitive and giving them their everything. My mates is especially competitive, we shouted in every match we played, and we had to play the most matches to reach the final stages.

We ended up in second place after a loss to another team of friends, it was tough, and we were fatigued after playing 3 matches in a row. To find out that we have to defeat them twice in order to get first place, we just thought might as well give it up (with a fight) so we can go home and rest.

So, we won RM800, which is odd since there are 6 of us. We were given a cheque this time, instead of the usual cash, so I will have to claim it, and bank into their accounts later.

Everyone was happy with their performance this time, after all, it may be a competition, but to us, its a place for us to form a greater bond of friendship.
